This year Red Bull Straight Rhythm returns to the Golden Age of motocross, as the event goes all two-stroke. Riders will leave their fancy factory four-strokes at home and will run what they brung as they tackle the half-mile-long straight rhythm track on nothing but two-stroke power. But who will end up on top?
YOUR TASK: Drag and drop riders below to fill out your 250cc bracket and pick a winner. Submit your bracket and the first perfect bracket (or the closest to perfect) will win a prize pack from Troy Lee Designs. Get to Fairplex in Pomona or tune in to Red Bull TV on October 20 to root on your picks.
He may be retired, he may be coming off the couch, and he may be known for riding a four-stroke, but Dungey is fast. Always.
The only thing more amazing than Villopoto’s racing credentials is the fact that he actually lost at the event last year. He can actually lose? Who knew?
Reigning king of the two-strokes, Stank Dog looks to keep his crown and smoke the competition. And everyone knows smoking is his forte.
The returning champion. Well, champion in a different class. But he’s still returning. And technically, he’s a back-to-back champion. This could get confusing.
Smith’s claim to fame in life is beating Ronnie Mac two years ago, and he’s looking to recreate the best moment of his life.
#69. Enough said.
Supercross. Motocross. Off-road. Four-strokes. Two-stokes. United States. Puerto Rico. Save something for the rest of us, Sipes!
Judging by how the Frenchman’s offseason has gone, he will probably take both the trophy and the Statue of Liberty back to France with him.
Don’t sleep on Grant. 45 seconds is in his fitness wheelhouse and he has speed for days.
He’s racing a 1991 KX 500. How can he lose?
He’s riding a 2007 CR 250 and is also one of the best starters in the game right now. He could win this no problem. Just stay in your lane Vince, stay in your lane.
This hole shot king might be at the first speed check by the time the other guy even gets off the start platform.
The Red Bull KTM test rider knows the KTM 250 very well, and just may be the fastest “Ryan” on a KTM at the event. You never know, he could even be the fastest “Ryan” overall.
Say it with us: Sue-bah-ras. And the French don’t run, they race to the checkered flag.
Durham will definitely lick the battery. He’s racing an Alta, after all.
Jeldera is rocking the only TM 250 in the field. Is a TM just a KTM where the “K” fell off?
He’s been there, he’s done that. Brown has more experience than almost the entire field combined. And rumor has it that at least one of the other riders is actually his son.
Team Pulp MX rider Alex Ray got rammed hard last weekend, Cameron answered the call and will carry the Pulp mx flag this week.
He is no stranger to going fast in the whoops. You know his competition will want to be way ahead before entering the whoops next to him.
This year it’s all two-strokes, so the fat has been cut, and there will be half as many piston strokes but twice as much fun. The race will consist of two classes - 250cc+, and 150cc & under. And, yes, it is all two strokes…well, with one exception. Those mad scientists at Alta Motors will be allowed to run electric in the 250cc+ class. Think of it as a “return to the past, but keep an eye on the future” philosophy. But mostly two-strokes. Lots of two-strokes. Like, 96.2 percent two-strokes. Maybe check that math. Despite the bike changes, the concept remains the same. Line up side by side and race head-to-head down a ½ mile of rollers, whoops, doubles, tables and all other kinds of rhythmic insanity. Racing is a best-of-three format, so each rider gets at least two chances to grab victory. This also helps to cut down on all the crying about bad starts at the after party. In its fifth year, the event will continue the format where practice, qualifying and racing will all take place on the same day, with the finals taking place at night under the lights.
